Flavia Nasrin Testa
Flavia Testa is a professional working artist, residing in Aspotogan NS, with her three teenage children. She has recently returned from a ten year stint in Italy and is working in the community in the public and private sector making art and illustrations. She is multilingual and enjoys rural settings, her aim is to also bring art to rural communities which may not have access to working artists aside from the HRM.
Workshops and Activities
As an outsider artist I would like to explore language, illustration and colour with participants and connect all these elements in meaningful works of art that have a socio-political significance for the next generation. Not so much as a SJ cause, but to access the imagination and the creativity of each person to have them understand that there is power in the gestures of a pen or a pencil and that you do not need to be "an artist" to create. The use of native languages (mother tongues) and other symbols can also promote cross cultural understanding with images, often things can be discovered and barriers are broken this way. My aim in teaching with PAINTS NS is to bring courage, curiosity and help bring that out in others.
