Archan Knotz works in mediums such as monotype printmaking, watercolour and, handmade journal making. First the rough wilderness of the inland and as of late the Northumberland Strait is giving her the background to explore her emotional landscape. Rather than, Archan explaining her artwork and, therefore, hindering the beholder to establish their own ideas about the artwork, she would like the onlooker to give her an explanation of what the artwork provokes in them. “For me the moment of explanation is in the past, all I can offer is for someone else to be in the moment.”
Workshops and Activities
As an artist, I have over 28 year of experience, exploring and celebrating my limits and my strength. As an Educational Assistant, I have had over 10 years of experience working with students in classrooms. I want to offer the students an experience where they are challenged to leave their critique behind, a time where they may explore their limits and stretch beyond and, where they then are encouraged to express their likes and dislikes to reflect on the task while deepen their understanding about themselves and the teaching of the medium. My intent is to create an understanding that creativity is a gift which asks to be nourished in order to flourish. Monotype printmaking is a medium that introduces ink as well as watercolour and allows immediate results which may lead to celebratory WOWs! from the students. Handmade journal making has come to me out of a need to heal my mental health through journaling. It can be done as simple as decorating card stock paper with inspirational quotes and binding sections with a simple saddle stitch, to handmade leather bound journals with hand ripped paper. A beginning to become a critical thinker on an individual journey. Please contact me directly in order to discuss how we can make your ideas match with my skill in order to make this project a great experience for all. http://streetsridge.blogspot.ca/
