As an Interdisciplinary artist and art therapist I let the content of artwork help to direct my choice of materials. I am passionate about art for social awareness and mental health. I strongly encourage everyday artmaking and strive to personally achieve this. I enjoy and have experience working with children of all ages. Originally from Newfoundland, I moved to Cape Breton over a year ago. I won the NL arts and letters competition in 1999 and have participated in group and solo exhibits in various settings since receiving my BFA and MA from Concordia University in Montreal.
Workshops and Activities
I can run art workshops that can focus on art as a tool for wellness and as a protective factor for mental health. I am extremely interested in art creation that can help contribute to social awareness and change. I can also run workshops that are focused on students establishing their own artistic identity and how they can incorporate art in their everyday lives. I am passionate about art for everyone. I can also run workshops on drawing, painting, mixed media and collage. I enjoy working with individual students as well as groups of students and have experience doing both. Please contact me for more details on how my experience as an artist can help to enhance your school and your students experience of what art making can bring to their lives.
