Halifax
I am a textile artist and researcher currently based out of K'jipuktuk/Halifax. My work focuses on the versatility of off-loom textile processes such as rope-making, knotting, crochet and braiding, and how they can be translated for a wider audience and used in new and innovative ways. While the techniques I use are based on traditional and historic ideas, I often use unconventional material combinations to bring my work into the contemporary world.
Workshops and Activities
I have experience facilitating workshops for all ages, some of which have included: rope-making workshops with fun and wacky gizmos, braiding workshops where participants create their own tools, darning parties for those who wish to learn how to mend and patch clothing, and using crochet as 3D printing. For each workshop I always emphasise the history of the technique, but still make it fun and exciting through the use of unconventional materials and contexts.
