Kate Ward was captivated by the magic of colour at an early age when she was taught how to mix green by her mother. Since then, Kate has studied textiles at the Australian National University, ceramics in Japan and jewellery in Italy. She completed her MFA at, NSCAD in 2016. Kate enjoys sharing her love of art with students of all ages. She has been teaching children through the PAINTS program (Professional Artists in The Schools) established by Arts Nova Scotia, summer camp activities at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and in her private studio in Truro. www.kateward.com.au
Workshops and Activities
I love to share the magic of creativity with those around me. A selection of my workshops explore: - Screen and block printing on fabric, - Fabric dying using natural processes, - The art of shibori (tie dying) with indigo dye, - Embroidery and the art of repair - Creating 3D sculpture using fabric and mixed media - Painting and colour theory. Workshops can also be tailored to individual or class preferences. Activities are complemented with art theory and history which allows the children to learn about the technique and further their education in art.
