Workshops and Activities
Students find a leaf (or another nature object) and bring to the classroom. They can sketch the leaf and transfer to a linoleum block, or trace the leaf directly onto the material, then carving around it with printmaking tools to leave the shape. Students can then carve details if desired (venation of leaves, stippling, etc.). Students will print the leaves using relief printmaking methods, and the different leaves can be collaged onto a wall to create a collaborative mural (for permanent indoor mural, use wheatpaste or spray adhesive).
